Primary Ciliary Dyskinesia

PCD is a genetic disorder of the air tubes of the lungs (the bronchi), which become infected and filled with pus due to abnormalities of the hair-like structure (cilia) of the cells lining the respiratory tract. This can lead to repeated infections and damage the lung, especially if the diagnosis of Kartagener Syndrome or Primary Ciliary Dyskinesia is delayed.

This service provides a diagnostic and advice service to patients who are referred  with suspected primary ciliary dyskinesia (PCD). It also supports and trains them in certain aspects of self-care treatment.
