Autologous intestinal reconstruction (AuGIR) in adult patients

AuGIR is a new surgical procedure for patients with short bowel syndromes who are on parenteral nutrition. Patients have insufficient bowel to take in enough food by mouth to provide adequate nutrition. The operation lengthens the bowel food to be taken normally. This is an established procedure in children.
