Burn Major Incident Plan

The National Burn Care Review (2001) highlighted the need for a coordinated plan across the NHS for responding effectively to a major incident that results in a significant number of people with severe burn injuries.

Such incidents could be:

In April 2011 the Department of Health published revised guidance to the NHS in planning for such a major incident.   Titled "NHS Emergency Planning Guidance - Planning for the management of burn-injured patients in the eventof a major incient".  The guidance has been developed by the National Network for Burn Care and the Department of Health Emergency Preparedness Division.

Following publication of this new guidance, work is underway to ensure it is implemented locally within Burn Care Networks and Burn Care Services.
